Once again, the rail authorities have intervened to frustrate our visit arrangements by announcing closure on 23 May of the line from Bedford to Leicester.
The best alternative we have found is as follows:
London Kings Cross departure at 0830 arrives Peterborough 0915.
Take coffee or tea at Peterborough station cafe.
Peterborough 0952 arrives Melton Mowbray at 1029 (half an hour earlier than the original intention). The church is just a 5 minute downhill walk from the station.
The coach will convey us from Melton Mowbray via Peter Collins’ workshop to Leicester as per the Newsletter programme.
PLEASE NOTE that the coach will no longer pick up from Leicester station in the morning.
Return journey: Train from Leicester departs at 1718 arrives Peterborough 1813.
Peterborough 1833 arrives London Kings Cross at 1930.
This plan should ensure a smooth journey. Colin Menzies has kindly composed an excellent set of notes for a first Club visit to Peter Collins’ workshop and 3 splendid organs.
Bookings to John Miley (email@example.com) or 01780 470015 by Saturday 16 May.
We apologise for the change of plans at short notice.
